Our Founder and Head of Entrepreneurship, Dimitris Tsingos, proudly participates in the Rome Manifesto initiative which is launched in Rome today, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, calling for the evolution of the EU to a “European Federal Union”.

The Rome Manifesto initiative

What is the Rome Manifesto?

A group of leading young European scholars and professionals. What they propose, while ambitious, seems to be of utmost importance for Europe: “To renew the European project”.
In essence, to change the European Union, into a European Federal Union.

Organised by the German-Italian Centre for European Excellence Villa Vigoni, as well as the non-profit association United Europe, a pro-European initiative headquartered in Hamburg, it hosts authors from Italy, Germany, Croatia, the Netherlands, Britain, Austria, Greece and other European countries. Its authors were selected for their intellectual strength and commitment to the European idea.

What’s the occasion?

The group’s 18 authors, will be presenting their plan today, as part of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome. Former president of “Yes for Europe”, Dimitris Tsingos, is one of them.

Belonging together

“We, the young generation, see it as our duty to not only uphold Europe’s legacy, but to strive for its urgent renewal. We have experienced open borders and easy traveling, a single currency and common citizenship, education exchanges and new technologies, all of which have allowed us to meet other Europeans and concretely enhanced our conviction of belonging together”,
says the manifesto.

The vision

Its members envision a Federal Union, headed by a single European President, while the European Commission would help form an executive branch. A great start to found an all new Federation of countries. One that will, eventually, be able to face the challenges of our time.

“Entrepreneurs know better”

Dimitris Tsingos said:
Entrepreneurs know better than anyone else that when the “why” gets strong, the “how” gets easy.

Evolving to a Federal Union is the natural, yet necessary step in the course of European integration, both living up to the expectations of the generations before us and creating the most fertile ground for creating a bright future, for the generations of Europeans that will follow us.

Also, on a personal note, having grown up in a family who lived the tragedy of WW2 and fought for freedom, equality, justice and prosperity in Europe, now that the living memories of the tragedy are fading away, I can only stand up and speak out with a loud and clear voice, for the ultimate necessity of European integration.

We have to unite Europe and we are actually doing it.
