Calling all software developers, cloud gurus and IT wizards! The inaugural Οπe\n (pronounced “open”) conference is taking place on March 29-30. And we, at Starttech, are delighted to be taking part.

Starttech Ventures at the Οπe\n Conference 2019

The event will take place at the University of West Attica in Egaleo Its aim is to help accelerate the local SW Development and IT ecosystem here in Greece. The main subjects for this first event of its kind are two of our favorites: Cloud and Python.

We’ll be taking part through two of our startups, Yodeck – which is the gold sponsor of the event, and Stackmasters. You can sign up to attend via the event website, where you’ll also find all the information you need about this great initiative lead by Nokia, the Platinum sponsor.

What is the Οπe\n (pronounced open) conference?

Οπe\n is an initiative by Nokia in Greece. It’s aim is to interconnect and foster the development of the local SW Development and IT ecosystem. While those of us already deep within the community know and recognize Greece’s innovative talent in this area, the idea is to build even more awareness. The goal is to help it gain a more prominent position, while also contributing to the reduction of brain drain.

The vision is to turn Oπe\n in an annual two-day technical conference. One that will draw the attention of the global tech ecosystem. As mentioned for this year, the conference will cover two topics, one for each day: Python and Cloud technologies/architectures.

Our representatives

We’ll have two of our very own “superstars” from our portfolio companies. They will be attending as guest speakers to enlighten the participants with their expertise and insights. The men in question are Thanassis Parathyras from Stackmasters and Nikos Kapetanos of Yodeck.

Day one: On Cloud – Thanassis Parathyras

Thanassis is the Co-Founder & CTO of Stackmasters, and he will give a keynote presentation entitled “A practitioner’s tale on clouds”.

Day two: On Python – Nikos Kapetanos

Nikos, a Lead Backend Engineer for Yodeck, will add his two cents (and then some) of value to the Python discussions with his keynote on “Building an IoT SaaS MVP using Python”

Check out the rest of the agenda for both days, here.

See you there!

If you haven’t already signed up then make sure you do so today. This is an event not to be missed. Not if you are passionate about software development, cloud computing and IT in general. We’re proud to support the event and look forward to seeing you there.
