What SETN 2026 Is

Now in its 14th edition, the EETN Conference on Artificial Intelligence is a biennial gathering organized by the Hellenic Artificial Intelligence Society (EETN) together with the Technical University of Crete’s School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Over the years it has grown into one of the most established forums for Greek and international AI researchers to present new work, held entirely in English so the conversation reaches beyond Greece’s borders. This year’s edition is dedicated to the memory of Pavlos Peppas and Themis Panagiotopoulos.

The research track spans the full breadth of the field, and the invited speaker lineup reflects that range: Marija Slavkovik (University of Bergen) on normative governance for AI agents, Mary-Anne Williams (UNSW) on rationalizing risky choices made by autonomous agents, Grigoris Antoniou (Leeds Beckett University) on AI for mental health, George Vouros (University of Piraeus) on the limits of scale in AI systems, and Antonis Argyros (University of Crete) on visual AI for interpreting human presence. Together, the talks move from the theoretical foundations of AI agents to concrete applications in health, perception, and governance.

An Industry Track Talk on the Practical Side of AI

Alongside the research program, the SETN 2026 AI Conference includes an Industry Track, and Starttech Ventures Founder and CEO Dimitris Tsingos will speak in the morning plenary on September 11. His talk, “Η πρακτική πλευρά της εξέλιξης της ΤΝ – Επιδράσεις στην εκπαίδευση, την οικονομία και το επιχειρείν,” looks at the practical side of AI’s evolution and what it means for education, the economy, and business — grounding the conference’s research agenda in what AI adoption actually looks like inside classrooms, budgets, and boardrooms today.
