Winter is coming. But this time it’s got nothing to do with the epic battle for the Seven Kingdoms. So, what could be more important than Game of Thrones? The EBAN Winter Summit 2017 of course!

All eyes on Munich for the EBAN Winter Summit 2017

The EBAN Winter Summit 2017

That’s right, one of Europe’s largest and most influential Business Angel events kicks off this week. The beautiful and progressively conservative oxymoron of a city that is Munich, Germany is the destination for the 2-day event on October 12-13. All the action will be taking place at the Nymphenburg Palace, aka “Castle of the Nymph (or Nymphs)”, a beautiful Baroque palace.

The capital of Bavaria has a reputation as the hi-tech and high-art capital of the country, while also living up to the endless stereotypes. And that’s why its known as the city of “laptops and lederhosen”. We at Starttech will definitely be bringing the former, not too sure about the latter. Yet.

An action-packed agenda

So what’s on the menu at the 16th edition of EBAN’s renowned “Winter University”. Quite a lot actually. Some of the regions greatest entrepreneurial minds and business angel network are coming to town. A gathering of more than 300 business angels and other early stage investors, as well as 100 startups will be in attendance. And as you may expect the agenda is jam-packed with some fantastic key speakers.

Among some of the outstanding names is Anders Wijkman, the Co-president of the Club of Rome, chairman of the Swedish Association of Recycling Industries and former MEP. A revered opinion maker and author, Wijkman will kick off Tuesday’s morning session on October 17 entitled Solutions for the 21st Century: The New Age of Angel Investing. There will also be a slot devoted to a “New Universe of Opportunities”, focusing on space, robotics, health and environment. On hte stage will be Frank M. Salzgeber, the Head of the Technology Transfer Programme Office at the European Space Agency (ESA).

Our very own Growth Hacker-in-chief Aristeidis Kypriotis will be a panelist on the discussion about “Investing in the New World Paradigm. The next Generation of Innovators from CEE, Russia, Middle East and Africa”, on Tuesday, October 17 at 12:15 – 13:15.

What is EBAN?

In case you have been residing under a rock, EBAN, as its official title states, is the European Trade Association for Business Angels, Social Funds and Early Stage Market Players. It offers a vital platform for connecting entrepreneurs with funding networks and some of the world’s most prominent business angels and opinion leaders.

Bringing together over 150 member organizations in more than 50 countries, EBAN represents a sector which invests an estimated 7.5 billion Euros per year. It plays a key role in Europe’s future, particularly in the funding of small and medium businesses.

We’re proud to be active members of EBAN since 2009. For us, the event represents a rich melting pot of networking. One where investors, like ourselves, can tap in to the future of all things tech and beyond, and enable deal-making between experts in their various fields.

Opportunity knocks

So, irrespective of whether you want to invest, learn, network, or simply participate, it promises to be an eye-opening summit. We hope you come and join us at one of the largest gatherings of investors globally where we can share experiences and tap into some inspiration. See you there!
