Back to Our Roots: Epignosis support at Voxxed Days Crete signals a grand return

Next week, Voxxed Days Crete 2025 will bring together developers, engineers, and innovators from across Greece and beyond. We are proud that Epignosis will be there as a Gold Sponsor—and for us at Starttech Ventures, this participation marks much more than a sponsorship. It represents a homecoming.

This year also marks the 25th anniversary of Virtual Trip, launched in September 2000 in Heraklion as Greece’s first startup, the pioneering “company of the programmers.” That spirit—programming at the core, entrepreneurship as the journey—has defined our DNA ever since.

Now, a quarter of a century later, we are returning to Heraklion not only with Epignosis and our broader portfolio of companies, but also with a renewed, long-term commitment to the city’s technology and entrepreneurship ecosystem. Our plans include opening a new office in Heraklion and engaging more deeply with the community that shaped us from the very beginning.

Heraklion is also home to the Department of Computer Science at the University of Crete—widely regarded as the country’s best computer science department and proudly the alma mater of our founders. Alongside it stands FORTH, Greece’s leading research organization, as well as several other high-quality academic and research institutions that make the city a true hub of knowledge and innovation.

Beyond academia, we believe Crete itself holds a renewed centricity. In the wider context of the Eastern Mediterranean—a region that today is troubled, but which carries enormous potential for the future—Crete is uniquely positioned. It is a place we aim to explore more deeply, both as entrepreneurs and as builders of global technology companies.

And of course, there is the amazing quality of life that Crete offers. We see this as a natural magnet for top talent not only from Greece, but also from Europe, Asia, and Africa. As part of our return, we want to embrace this potential too, building teams and opportunities that can thrive here.

Voxxed Days Crete offers the perfect opportunity to reconnect. We look forward to meeting fellow programmers and innovators, sharing our passion for building global companies from Greece, and inviting those who share our vision to join us in this journey of entrepreneurship, innovation, and creativity.

Heraklion was our starting point. Now, it is our future as well.
