WordCamp Athens 2025 – A weekend of performance, learning, and community

Last weekend, members of the Starttech Ventures Ecosystem had the opportunity to attend WordCamp Athens 2025, an event that once again proved how strong and inspiring the WordPress community in Greece has become. It was a weekend filled with valuable sessions, open discussions, and a genuine sense of collaboration.

Three talks in particular resonated with our team:

  • “Optimize, optimize, optimize: Caring for performance in your WordPress plugin or website” an in-depth look at performance optimization, caching, and practical ways to enhance plugin and site efficiency.
  • “WordPress Security 2025: From Real Threats to Practical Defenses” a comprehensive presentation on security measures such as Content Security Policy and HTTP security headers.
  •  “Core Web Vitals at a glance” a hands-on walkthrough of the key metrics and techniques for improving user experience through better site speed and stability.

As a team that regularly works on WordPress-based projects, we often face the challenge of maintaining and improving website performance at scale. These sessions offered us valuable ideas, tools, and best practices that we’re eager to experiment with in the coming months, from smarter caching strategies to deeper Core Web Vitals analysis.

Beyond the technical content, WordCamp Athens reminded us of what truly powers WordPress: its community. The informal exchanges between sessions, the willingness to share solutions, and the collaborative atmosphere reflected the open-source spirit that drives innovation forward.

A huge thank-you to the organizers, speakers, and volunteers who made WordCamp Athens 2025 such an insightful and energizing experience. We’re already looking forward to the next one!
