Are you ready for the new EU data privacy regulation, the GDPR? It’s the biggest change in data privacy law for 20 years. So, there’s plenty to take on board if you are running, or thinking of starting up a digital business.

Open talk on the EU’s new data privacy regulation (GDPR)

There are only 170 days to go before the new legislation is put in place. We are following developments closely. We will host a special open house presentation for anyone who wants to come and learn how the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) affects their business.

Allcomers are welcome at the Starttech Ventures Athens HQ on Thursday, December 7 at 13:00. The presentation will be delivered by Manos Dramitinos, the CIO of Epignosis. One of our leading startup portfolio companies.

What is the GDPR?

GDPR is the most comprehensive EU data privacy regulation in decades. It will come into effect on May 25, 2018. It is a set of regulations that includes 99 articles and plenty of complexities. If your organisation processes data for EU citizens, the GDPR will impact you and every department in your business.

Besides strengthening and standardizing user data privacy across the EU nations, it will require new or additional obligations on all organizations that handle EU citizens’ personal data. This, regardless of where the organizations themselves are located.

What we will discuss

The fines for non-conformance are extremely high. During the presentation, we will provide an overview of GDPR as a whole. Including its ecosystem and terminology. We’ll also explore the regulation’s main provisions and changes for data subjects’ rights, processors’ and controllers’ obligations. As well as legal and business implications regarding business operations and product features/enhancements.

We will also discuss GDPR “certifications” / codes of conduct, as well as suggested plans/roadmaps towards conformance and relevant tools thereof. Finally, we will explain our own approach to achieving GDPR-compliance. Both for ourselves and for our customers. We will identify pain points and next steps.

So, come on down on Thursday, December 7 at 13:00. We’ll help you cut through the noise and ensure your business is prepared.
